Metzeler Motorcycle Tires
Metzeler has been making motorcycle tires for longer than the combined years that you and I have both been riding. (And I’ve been rockin’ and rolling on motorbikes since about the time the Rolling Stones unleashed “Gimme Shelter” to the world).
As one of the industry’s most mature motorcycle tire makers,
METZELERhas been doing its thing since 1892. This German company has always been at the forefront of motorcycle tire technical innovation.
Metzeler makes tires for all motorcycles, including for racing, super sport, sport touring, classic, custom, enduro, off road and scooters.
Metzeler Motorcycle Tires and a Little History
According to the Metzeler website, here are a few interesting bits from this company’s manufacturing history:
1863 - Robert Friedrich Metzeler opened shop in Munich, Germany, selling rubber and elastic goods. (No motorcycle tires quite yet).
1892 - Metzeler lent a hand with its rubber technology skills towards tire development for bicycles, motorcycles and automobiles.
1937 - Metzeler tires helped establish the high-speed world record for motorcycles.
1945 - The factory was completely destroyed during World War II. Reconstruction began immediately and motorbike tire manufacturing ultimately resumed.
1986 - Metzeler became a member of the Pirelli Group (big name in Italian tires).
1992 - Metzeler introduces the world’s first radial, rear, motorcycle tire with steel belt technology.
1996 - Metzeler develops the first steel-belted, radial front tire.
Today - They make tires for your bike and mine.
