Knobby Tires for Motorcycles

Motorcycle Knobby TiresSome of the greatest motorcycle pleasures I’ve enjoyed have been riding dirt bikes through sand, mud, creeks, rivers, rocks, fields, near vertical cliffs and any other terrain my MOTORCYCLE KNOBBY TIRES could grab.

Motorbike Tires For The Dirt

In fact, the very job of off-road, knobby tires is to bite into the surface and use the sides of the tread to get a better grip in dirt and any loose material.

Hence, they are the most common tire on Motocross bikes.

Knobby Tires

As may be obvious, the small rubber “knobs” that comprise the tire tread inspire the name of this category of motorbike tire.

As great as knobby tires are in the dirt, they are not ideal on pavement. Which means, if you are a dual-purpose rider, those knobbies will wear out much faster when you are doing your pavement riding.

As well, that tread pattern is not well suited to optimum traction on the pavement.

Nor do they lend themselves to a smooth asphalt-riding experience.

Most dual-purpose riders will opt for a small knobby tread pattern, as a compromise between  riding on both dirt and pavement.
