Motorcycle Horns: Are Yours The Cheap Kind?
Every motorcycle is manufactured as a compromise between many factors, some of those include weight, expense and aesthetics.
Many MOTORCYCLE HORNS seem to fall into the compromise of low-cost (in this case, clearly cheap).
When you consider the relative safety benefit of having a horn with a loud enough sound, and with a certain audible authority that can penetrate an inattentive driver’s world at the precise necessary instant when he/she is starting to cut you off the road….well, you get the idea on why some riders start to re-think certain compromises.
How about blasting that driver into a more wakeful state with a horn that sounds like it’s coming from a truck?
Although some manufacturers do provide better horns for their bikes than others, some motorcycle horns are so worthless a rider may elect to simply yell at the driver instead (which still won’t create the intended effect if they still don’t actually hear you….)
If you are going to upgrade your motorcycle horn, you may want to consider air horns, which can offer much louder (in some cases, ear splitting) sound.
Heck, you can even get “dual” air horns with dual tones if you want to create a fancier audible impact.
Motorcycle Air Horns Installation
The replacement of motorbike horns seems like it should be a pretty easy process. And on some bikes it is.
But on other bike’s it is not.
If your current horn is buried in your fairing, and not readily accessible, not only will your installation “not” be one of the easier ones, you will also be limited in the choice of upgraded horns you can consider, if you are going to keep the horn in the same restricted location.
Other horns are chrome plated and/or have designs that are meant to feature the horn(s) as a prominent visual accessory, in addition to its audible function.
