TOURMASTER AND CORTECH - MARKETING INSULT?

Fancy marketers would not like the notion of mixing and matching “Tourmaster” and “Cortech” in one article since they are different “brand identities” - in spite of the fact that they both come from the same company: Tourmaster.

It would be sort of like illogically interjecting the subject of a manufacturer’s high-performance sport bikes when the conversation is about, say, dirt bikes (from the same manufacturer).

So, if you are a brand manager, or a marketing guy, you should click away before your finer sensibilities are further insulted.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TOURMASTER AND CORTECH

Tourmaster has been making motorcycle riding gear, such as helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, rainsuits, electric vests, and luggage, for a while. This California company has its roots going back to 1969.

And, they also make a line of gear named “Cortech.”

So, what’s the difference between Tourmaster and Cortech, you might ask?

Well, here’s what it says on the Tourmaster website: “Out of our Tour Master brand came our latest line of gear, Cortech, which offers all of the performance features and sophisticated innovations and fabric technologies of our Tour Master gear, but is styled for the performance and sport bike segment.”

In short, the difference boils down to different styling.

So be it. I will not begrudge the company for making it a little more confusing on consumers who LIKE their products. As in fact, I do. I have purchased LOTS of motorcycle gear over the gazillion years I’ve been riding, and Tourmaster is among the brands I can recommend. (Even if they change their name on certain of their products!)

OK, I’ll get over it and step off my soap box.
