MORE Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough
The Proficient Motorcycling series by David Hough is a great addition to any rider looking to improve his/her riding skills and general survival potential among the wild mix of inattentive drivers that populate the world’s roads.
Although any of Hough’s book are excellent resources in and of themselves, if you haven’t checked out the original Proficient Motorcycling book, you owe it to yourself to give it a look over.
Although there is some overlap of info between both of these books, both books are worth re-reading again and again into the future as you pile on some more experience, as well as serving as a repeated reminder of good riding skills.
MORE Proficient Motorcycling Chapters
Here are the chapter titles for More Proficient Motorcycling, Mastering the Ride: Learning to Ride, The Professional Attitude, Road Rules, Risky Business, Tuning Up Your Skills, Riding In The Real World, Cornering, Getting Your Head In The Ride, Traveling Tactics and The Bottom Line.
With several hundreds of thousands of miles under my belt, I still learned more about the mechanical dynamics of a motorcycle than I ever previously cared to look into.
I particularly enjoyed his chapter on The Professional Attitude and the section “Motorcycling As A Combat Mission.”
Additionally, the section on “Wimp-o-phobia” is an insightful essay on a rider’s personal responsibility.
Hough’s “Proficient Motorcycling” books are among my highest recommended references for motorbike riders:
