MOTORCYCLE HELMET INTERCOM SYSTEMS
The state of the art of MOTORCYCLE INTERCOM SYSTEMS is continuing to improve.
In brief, some of the primary communication needs for riders are:
- Rider to Passenger
- Biker to Biker
Additionally, if you are going to add audio capabilities to your helmet, for the purpose of communication, you might also be considering the following capabilities:
- Listening to music (radio or recorded music)
- Listening to audio GPS instructions (if you have a Global Positioning System on your bike)
- Integrating your cell phone into the motorcycle intercom system
TYPES OF BIKER INTERCOM SYSTEMS
Although there are a variety of technologies available, in general terms the primary options are wireless systems or wired systems.
Wired technology for motorcycle intercoms has been around the longest but has the disadvantage of rider and passenger needing to plug and unplug the wires while getting on and off the motorbike. And of course this is not an option that will allow communication between riders on different bikes. An advantage of this technology is that it’s a pretty reliable and a relatively simple technology; at least compared to wireless (fewer things to go wrong).
Wireless technology bypasses the limitations of needing the wires and opens up the possibilities of communicating between riders on different bikes. The “technologies” available are more complex and are undergoing continuous development, even though, ultimately, without the wires they do simplify things for the users. Bluetooth wireless for motorcycles is a well-known way to tie all of a rider’s gadgets together.
