THE SHOEI LINE OF MOTORBIKE HELMETS
Shoe motorcycle helmets include street and off-road motorcycle helmets, as well as racing helmets and are regarded as a “premium” manufacturer. (Meaning, some of their helmets are among the most expensive.)
Shoei manufactures a large line of full face helmets, open face helmets (also called 3/4 helmets) and half helmets. The majority of their motorcycle helmets are full face styles, with different designs for street riding, off-road riding, dual-purpose riding, and racing.
A LITTLE HISTORY BEHIND SHOEI MOTORCYCLE HELMETS
According to the Shoei website, they began manufacturing general safety helmets in Tokyo, Japan back in 1959.
Shoei’s founder, Eitaro Kamata, began to produce helmets for the motorcycle racing sector and in 1960.
In 1965 Honda Motor Co. adopted Shoei’s helmets as their ‘genuine’ helmets, increasing their popularity and availability.
In 1968 the company formed Shoei Safety Helmet Corporation in California, which is the North American arm of their company.
When 1976 rolled around, Shoei introduced their GR-Z helmet, which was the world’s first helmet incorporating carbon fiber in its construction.
Shoei sells their motorcycle helmets all over the globe and has enjoyed long-term popularity in North America.
