Motorcycle Helmet Face Shields and Visors

MODERN FACE SHIELDS ARE “MUCH” BETTER!

Modern face shields, or visors, for motorbike helmets are an improvement over face protection for helmets when I was a kid.

Nowadays helmet face shields are transparent.

But way back when in medieval times when I was first getting accustomed to helmets, face shields were metal, and had small holes to see and breathe through.

They were heavy and not very comfortable, and if you had a habit of humming or singing to yourself, the reverberations inside those metal suits was eerie. (On the other hand, if you aren’t a good singer, they might “improve” how you sound).

MULTI-COLORED HELMET FACE SHIELDS

I certainly wish we had full-face helmets with smoke face shields back then: I’d just need to get one color-coordinated with my armored suit.

Nowadays, face shields are available in different colors, just in case you like your world to look a little rosier, or warmer than reality. On the other hand, smoke shields are very practical for daytime riding, since they are essentially like sunglasses for your helmet.

Of course you should still have a clear shield readily available for night riding, as well.
