MOHAWK HELMET ACCESSORIES AND GEORGE WASHINGTON

When I grew up, George Washington was trying to figure out how to balance the national budget and here in the wild west using bows and arrows was the customary way to resolve disputes about land and women. And I didn’t put fancy colors in my Mohawk haircut.

OK, so I admit, times have changed and I’ve gotten a little older (although George Washington would not have imagined that the country he fathered still cannot balance its checkbook).

Regardless of my age, on a relative basis, I could argue that ANYONE who rides a motorcycle is nowhere near as old as his/her birth certificate suggests.

Motorcyclists get to wear all kinds of stuff that “normal” folks don’t. Whether you walk into a restaurant in all-leather motorbike gear, or the latest, high-tech, space-suit for riders, you’re not likely to be dressed like everyone else. (Unless you are in Hollywood, or some biker’s hangout).

HATS OFF TO THE MOHAWK HELMET BIKER

However, my hat is off to anyone who would wear a Mohawk motorcycle helmet.

For me, the notion of decorating my helmet with a hairy strip of colored fringe is not something I’d do all the time.

MOHAWK ACCESSORY AS A SAFETY FEATURE?

So, for the even younger at heart, here’s a few details of this, ummmmm, helmet “accessory”:

* Meets or Exceeds D.O.T. Standards
* Tested To 160mph
* Attaches Via Suction Cups To Helmet
* Available in Various Colors

Advocates would say that the uniqueness of the look would serve to increase rider visibility and therefore safety. Hard to argue that it represents a unique appearance.

Others might reflect that it does not appeal to their personal sense of aesthetics.

For me, I’ll wear my Mohawk haircut “under” my helmet….
