Going on a long-distance ride?

Or, perhaps, just want better comfort and protection than a “classic” motorcycle boot?

Touring boots are designed for the needs of a long-distance rider, or even a regular street rider. These are boots that have more protection and more features than a classic “cruiser” or “engineer” boot, but are typically lighter and have less armored protection than racing boots or motocross boots.

MOTORCYCLE TOURING BOOTS are also shorter and have less protection than motocross boots, and are also more flexible than motocross boots.

Touring boots are designed for regular use on city streets and highways and some styles can still be worn all day at work. (Although it still depends on where you work. In contrast, motocross boots and most “racing” boots are not practical for all-day walking around or working).

FEATURES OF MOTORCYCLE TOURING BOOTS

Touring boots are usually between 10 and 14 inches in height and made from a combination of leather, metal, hard rubber, plastic and/or man-made fabrics.

A key feature is comfort, since, per force, a long distance rider is putting a lot of miles in the saddle and in his/her boots.

The heel of a touring boot is typically very low: not more than 1/2-inch, and sole of the heel and foot is typically rather smooth.

Motorcycle touring boots tend to be black (but not always), and usually not the multiple colors you can find for racing boots or motocross boots.
