WATERPROOF MOTORCYCLE BOOTS

I have had MANY different motorcycle boots over the years - and many of them have been “waterproof.”

However, “waterproof,” is somewhat relative in regards to motorcycle gear and particularly in regards to motorcycle boots.

Don’t get me wrong, in light rain, my regular boots work quite fine.  And when optimally conditioned and maintained, they do a good job even when encountering a good soaking.

But in real heavy rain, and especially, when riding all-day in the rain, well, their “waterproof” status can be called into question.   Of course, to really get the best wet-weather protection from any waterproof boots, they should be properly maintained with waterproofing repellent, as designated by the manufacturer.

On the other hand, another option is a rain coat to slip over your boots.

MOTORBIKE RAIN BOOT COVERS

The lightest motorcycle rain boot covers are made of  PVC coated nylon, although you can get rubber overboots for a heavier-duty, longer-term application.

Either one can be rolled up into a compact size and stowed away on your bike until needed.

The lightweight kind are more flexible and easier to put on and take off.   The heavy-duty rubber kind are more sturdy.

Neither are something you want to wear once it stops raining.  You certainly won’t win any motorbike fashion awards by parading around with these on, but they will keep your feet dry for prolonged adventures in the rain.
